Sabina and Luis tie the knot – 03rd April 2013
When Natural Nostalgia was in the first few months of establishment we received a pleading phone call from Sabina – a gorgeous bride residing in Joburg who was desperate for some vintage glitz and glam at her Joburg wedding. We agreed to help provide some vintage decor for the beautiful outside lawn area of Longmeadows in Fourways as well as do the tables and flowers inside.
Sabina’s favourite colour is lilac and we mixed these with pale pinks, whites, creams, greys and darker aubergine accents. Sabina loved vintage and wanted a mix-match of textures, metals, heights and materials. Keeping the interiors very elegant we used long wide tables and set-up a ‘New York Skyline’ – by playing with the features. A variety of candlesticks (crystal, crystal-cut hurricanes and silver single and three-arm), rose bowls (small and large) and birdcages scattered with gold and silver votives and pearls created the perfect mix. Plus cream damask tablecloths and a cream lace runner.
Sabina’s favourite creature is a butterfly so along with butterflies in the bouquet, a release of real butterflies for the guests to partake in – we also named each of the tables after common South African butterfly species using cut out cursive letters.
Starting with the small ceremony for only close family and friends at the beautiful Chartwell Castle. We did simple aisle decor using shepherd hooks and mason jars filled with flowers, and used our vintage door for Sabina to walk through. Hay bales and vintage farm equipment adorned the sides of the door to create a relaxed and vintage rustic ceremony.
Then to the reception where the guests were waiting. They were treated to a sweet and snack table with biltong, nuts, toffee apples and home-made lemonade. Unfortunately due to the rain – all of our outside decor had to be swiftly moved inside – but it didn’t matter nor spoil the day! The reception still looked stunning and the straw bales and furniture from the outside were readily moved in under cover to create a cosy place for guests to relax in. The garden games were still available should anyone feel the urge for a spot of croquet if the rain let up!
We especially love our his and hers straw bale couch!!
Two ladders propped up held the seating plan which showed each table named after a butterfly.
And sweet as love honey favours for the guests were placed at each table seat.
We used an eclectic mix of candlesticks, birdcages, rose bowls, votives and lace runners on cream damask table cloths to create a quirky yet relaxed and elegant affair.
Guests could then leave a note by completing a post card and popping it into the post box.
The cake was a gorgeous 3x caked affair with numerous tiers and again created various heights and was adorned with pearls and lace.
Wishing Sabina and Luis all the best as they start their journey as a married couple together and a big THANK YOU for choosing Natural Nostalgia to assist, inspire and implement your perfect day!
